Anthony Martinez-Arizta Named Broadcast & Editorial Director of IMPACT News at Indio High School

August 29, 2026 — Anthony Martinez-Arizta named Editorial Director of IMPACT News, Indio High School’s student media and broadcasting program over the summer. Martinez-Arizta will serve as part of the program’s newly established executive leadership team, helping oversee the editorial direction, programming, production, and journalistic standards of IMPACT News.
Martinez-Arizta is one of 10 members of the IMPACT executive leadership team. Alongside his appointment, Marcy Herrera has been named IMPACT Advisor, while Blanca Buenrostro has been named IMPACT Publishing Director. The remaining members of the executive leadership team will be announced at a later date.
“I’m so grateful to be named Broadcast & Editorial Director of IMPACT News, and I’m excited to begin this new chapter. In this role, I’ll help oversee the News Division of IMPACT and work alongside our leadership team to build a new era for IMPACT as a whole.
With this new role, I’ll be stepping back from my role as a RightNow News journalist. Although I’m still deeply passionate about journalism and reporting, this new position, along with my current role with Indio ASB, has limited the amount of time I’m able to dedicate to reporting. Journalism requires a great deal of time and commitment, and for the time being, I won’t have as much of that time available. However, I know I’ll return to that aspect of my work in the future.
RightNow News will continue to operate through its Production Division, which is integrated with IMPACT News and Indio ASB. I’m incredibly excited for this new venture, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead.”
— Anthony Martinez-Arizta, RightNow News President; IMPACT News Broadcast & Editorial Director; and Indio ASB Head of Production
Martinez-Arizta joined IMPACT News in August 2023, initially serving as an executive producer and anchor for AMR in 60 Seconds, a short-form news program produced through RightNow News for IMPACT, which ended in June.
As his role expanded, Martinez-Arizta became increasingly involved in the development and distribution of IMPACT programming. By the 2025–2026 school year, he was instrumental in establishing distribution partnerships that allowed content produced through RightNow News and Indio ASB to reach audiences through IMPACT.
During the 2025–2026 school year, Martinez-Arizta served as a co-showrunner of IMPACT News, working alongside student leaders and helping oversee the production of the program alongside hosts Patty Guerrero and Gordon Maxfield.
His appointment as Editorial Director now brings his experience in student journalism, broadcast production, digital media, and editorial leadership into a formal leadership position within IMPACT.
Martinez-Arizta's leadership in student media began years before he arrived at Indio High School.
He began his broadcast journalism journey in 2020 at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, where he joined Jaguar TV, the school's student broadcast network. What began with a submission for Jaguar TV's “Cribs” segment quickly developed into a passion for journalism and television production.
By 2021, Martinez-Arizta was anchoring Jaguar TV's news programming and producing his own segments. In 2022, he took on a larger editorial and production role while developing RightNow News, a student-created news organization focused on current events and real-world reporting.
RightNow News became the first real-world news program to air on Jaguar TV, giving Martinez-Arizta an opportunity to bring outside news coverage and a network-style approach into student broadcasting.
His experience at Jaguar TV also gave him an early foundation in editorial leadership, production management, anchoring, and developing programming skills he would later bring to IMPACT News.
Martinez-Arizta currently serves as Founder and President of RightNow News.
Since launching RightNow News in 2021, he has developed multiple programs and special broadcasts, including This Week in the News, AMR in 60, AMR: How to Win 2024: Road to 270, Countdown to the Harris-Trump Debate, and AMR: In the Conversation.
On June 19, 2023, he launched Anthony Martinez Reports, his flagship program, expanding his work into a prime-time news format.
Beyond RightNow News, Martinez-Arizta has held several leadership and production positions within Indio ASB, including Commissioner of Social Media & Publicity and Head of Productions. He has served as executive producer and creator on projects including Rajahs Vote, The Rundown, On the Spot, and various ASB specials.
He has also worked as an editor, director, videographer, photographer, graphic designer, and social media strategist.
Martinez-Arizta's work has received recognition beyond the classroom. In May 2023, he was honored with the Media Star Award for his contributions to student-led journalism and digital broadcasting.
His work has also been featured by KESQ News Channel 3 on multiple occasions, including coverage surrounding Jaguar TV, student broadcasting, and his involvement in school media. He has additionally participated in media and journalism opportunities connected to major events throughout the Coachella Valley.
His experience includes coverage of cultural and community events such as the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Fashion Week El Paseo, Palm Springs International ShortFest, and Desert X.
As Editorial Director, Martinez-Arizta will help shape the editorial vision of IMPACT News while working with student journalists, producers, anchors, and the program's executive leadership team.
His appointment represents a continuation of a journey that began in a middle-school broadcast studio and has grown into a leadership role within one of Indio High School's central student media programs.
